| We are a Scottish Charity, founded by Dorothy Dunnett and staffed entirely by volunteers. We aim to promoto interest in her novels
and the historical times in which are set. We publish a quarterly magazine Whispering
Gallery, which is sent members
world wide. Whispering Gallery contains Dunnett related articles, and
letters from readers. We rely mostly on our readers for submissions. We also encourage the running of meetings at which members meet to discuss Dorothy Dunnett's work and, often, listen to expert speakers on topics of historical interest. Details of such meetings can be found on these pages. The DDRA Spring Gathering weekend is held every year in Edinburgh. Dorothy Dunnett wrote The Lymond Chronicles, a series of 6 novels set in the 16th century. This was followed by the 8 book The House of Niccoló, series set in the 15th century. She also wrote King Hereafter an epic novel about Macbeth, and seven thrillers featuring the enigmatic Johnson Johnson. She was awarded the OBE in 1992 and was married to Sir Alastair Dunnett. She died in November 2001 and is greatly missed. |
